While the tropical weather remains Treasure Island's undisputed allure, there are numerous festivals, fairs and other events that keep things interesting throughout the year. Taste of Pinellas Festival Each June, St. Petersburg's Vinoy Park transforms into the annual Taste of Pinellas Festival, a three-day-long showcase of more than 40 local restaurants' signature dishes. It's an opportunity to taste local delicacies, like Gulf shrimp or tuna sashimi. Clearwater Jazz Holiday In mid-October, nearby Clearwater hosts an annual jazz festival. Called the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, the festival is free and showcases local and regional jazz talent against a tropical backdrop of ocean breezes and rolling waves. In its 28-year history, the festival has featured such legendary performers as Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck, Stan Getz and Tito Puente as well as today's most innovative jazz artists. Snowfest Those who visit Treasure Island in early December may want to make the short trek to Naples to attend Snowfest. Since 1985, Snowfest has offered Floridians the rather disorienting experience of playing in snow in 80? F weather. The event, which converts 900 blocks of ice into more than 70 tons of snow each year, has become a family favorite. Don't forget your mittens!
